HAWA Aperto 60/GL Sliding and Stacking Glass Doors
Project Description:
When plans for the Melbourne convention centre came to Häfele we were excited with the opportunity to provide hardware into such a prestigious and iconic building in Melbourne. The project involved Häfele supplying Glass Sliding and Stacking Doors (HAWA Aperto 60/GL) to all six reception counters within the centre. All counter tops were set at a height 1050mm with a section in each set at 850mm for disabled access. The brief involved all panels to be locked from the inside by key, there was to be no obstruction in the counter top therefore no bottom channel could be used. In place of a bottom channel, we offered dust proof strikes that sit flush with the counter top and lock the panels into position securely. When the doors are open the sprung strike cover neatly closes the aperture of the strike, creating a flush surface with no visible holes. This meant that users would not be obstructed when exchanging items across the counter. Häfele used a combination of 90-degree and parallel parking bays to ensure minimal space was taken when the panels were parked in their open position. This ensured that the work area for staff was maximised. The top track was recessed within a bulkhead to give a seamless look when doors were open.
With stunning orange walls and sleek glass Aperto 60/GL operable walls these were more than just reception counters. They became well designed and functional work areas that are great to look at, easy to use and complement the stunning design of this Melbourne icon.
