Saturday in Design - Melbourne 2008

Häfele (13/08/2008) On Saturday 9/8/08 Häfele opened our Melbourne Design Centre doors for Saturday in Design, an annual trade event for the design community, taking place on alternative years in Sydney and Melbourne.

For over 25 years in Australia, Häfele has worked hard to become the leading supplier of innovative and functional hardware. Highly regarded as a partner to building planners, the woodworking industry, joinery and related trades, as well as property developers, architects and designers, we continue to provide individual solutions to any hardware challenge.

During Saturday in Design architects, designers, students and design-savvy members of the public to enjoyed a hands on experience with the products they specify, in an elevated showroom environment.

Saturday in Design has traditionally been an opportunity for local and international products from hundreds of reputed brands to be launched to thousands of members of the design community in one day. On the day Häfele launched the new Kesseböhmer Arena Style, a range of modern kitchen pullout fittings with an edge. Offering clean lines in polished Chrome, Arena Style trays with anti-slip bases are available for Häfele’s magic corner pull-out and swivel fittings, the Le mans full-swing corner fitting, base cabinets and the entire range of pullout pantries. Also launched was the Grass Sensotronic drawer system, the world’s first intelligent drawer that is electronically controlled over its entire length. With European innovation and technology, drawers can open and close in response to a gentle tap. The drawers can move loads up to 70 kg and uniformly open gently into a set position and shut at a set speed, cushioned by the soft stop.

Bringing a whole new level to Saturday in Design was  the inclusion of The Project this year. For the first time, the audience became part of the content. Members of Australia’s best architecture, design and creative firms partnered up with participating showrooms, and created installations and innovations, using and inspired by showroom product.
Similar to the Milan fair, design locations at SiD were transformed for the occasion with the designers taking inspiration from product to create installations of every kind, shape and colour. As part of The Project, Häfele teamed up with Geyer to present “The hidden gem that is Häfele hardware.”

Hafele represents precision hardware and fittings manufactured to perfect tolerances. This hardware is often concealed/ within /hidden/ inside designed pieces of furniture and joinery.

Geyer and Hafele have come together to highlight the hidden fittings from Hafele. Discover the partnership that takes you on a journey to showcase and expose the connection between design and function.

There was a prize based incentive for those who visited all 3 main areas, Kitchen, Bathroom and Dialock Access control. With over 2,200 visitors and 1,500 entrants to the draw the lucky winner was Stephen Boyd from Corporate Express. He received the Häfele Red Gift Bag including, Red Ipod Nano 8G, Red Manhattan Portage messenger bag, Red FujiFilm Finepix Digital Camera and Red Lindt chocolates 235g pack.

With over 1000 solutions for manufacturing and design from a single source in comprehensive and quality product line are on offer, as well as 30,000 innovative fittings for furniture and cabinetry. This expansive range with their architectural hardware line and knowledgeable consulting team allows Häfele to provide a complete solution to any project.
