2007 ASFD David Kline Memorial Scholarship

Häfele America Co. is pleased to announce another co-sponsorship role in the 2007 ASFD David Kline Memorial Scholarship Design Contest. In honor of David Kline, a career furniture designer and past member of ASFD, the contest is open to all students in North America who are currently enrolled in an accredited design program.

Entrants are to submit one design project themed upon Häfele’s Tab A Honeycomb connector. This connector is used in new furniture designs for constructing and connecting furniture out of honeycomb materials with or without framing materials, creating lighter weight, yet thick panels.

Entries are to include a design brief, up to four pages of portfolio sketches, renderings and details of the work. All submitted materials should showcase the students understanding of the design process. Entries must be received by March 1, 2007 along with a letter of standing by the department head or dean of the design school.

The judging committee consisting of five industry professionals will select the award recipients. Scholarship awards will be in the amounts of $3500, $1000 and $500 for first, second and third place finishers. Häfele America Co. will present the awards to the winning students at the ASFD Spring Furniture Market dinner on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 in High Point, NC.
