Interzum award 2021 for the smart Lighting Pad Lounge

With the Lighting Pad Lounge, Häfele and its subsidiary Nimbus are presenting an elegant, integral light and acoustics solution that enriches sophisticated interiors with fine woods and can now also be smartly controlled via an app. Nimbus managing director, Dietrich F. Brennenstuhl, described this innovative lighting solution as the highlight of the Nimbus Group’s product development. Light meets acoustics – emotional, cozy, and smart. After receiving the international design award in Baden-Württemberg, “Focus Open Silver”, last year, this combination now also convinced the jury of the interzum award 2021, who put the Lighting Pad Lounge on the podium as well.

The Lighting Pad Lounge creates a pleasant, acoustic environment and emits brilliant, warm light. Since the high-performance LED light sources are integrated almost invisibly into the acoustic fleece on the underside of the light, it creates a magical effect in the form of a light column.

The Lighting Pad Lounge, consisting of a sound-absorbing acoustic element and brilliant LED lighting, was first presented by the Nimbus Group at the Light + Building 2018. Apostrophised as “acoustic light”, this innovative product kills two birds with one stone.  Two product worlds merge, so to speak. This opens up completely new design options and areas of application to planners and interior designers.

Workplaces, meeting points, lounges, hotel and restaurant areas – these are the places where people work, communicate, and eat together. Focus and relaxation are close together, work mixes with informal moments and transitions into personal life. Light and acoustics play an important role in accompanying different moods and, in the best case, create well-being. The new Lighting Pad Lounge can make a significant contribution here.

Lighting Pad Lounge – light, acoustics, furniture in harmony

The new Lighting Pad Lounge by Häfele and its premium light manufacturer, Nimbus, shines with innovative technology and trendy, warm and emotionally appealing surfaces made of high-quality moulded plywood. The smart hybrid of light and acoustic panel can be controlled via a sensor and a smartphone app. With its homely, fine appearance, the Lighting Pad Lounge is predestined for foyers, restaurants and hotels, and upscale retail. But it also wins people over and inspires in representative offices and of course in upscale living areas.

Häfele Smart competence gives new impulses

A great deal of care has gone into every detail of this light and acoustics solution. This applies in particular to the smart technical solutions that are being developed in the new Häfele Light Competence Centre in Stuttgart. Häfele expertise in smart LED lighting solutions in furniture and Nimbus expertise and experience in room lighting complement each other perfectly. It brings a lot of imagination for future innovations in the field of light and acoustics and for a forward-looking, holistic view of furniture and room lighting under one roof.
 

Individual light atmospheres via smartphone or sensor

The handling of the Lighting Pad Lounge should above all be fun: As an optional function, it can be continuously moved up or down manually on delicate steep ropes and controlled intuitively via a gesture sensor. Operation via remote control is accomplished via Bluetooth with the smart Häfele Connect Mesh app.

The Lighting Pad Lounge is dimmable and has a variable colour temperature from 2700 to 4000 Kelvin. With a direct light component of 1700 lm and an indirect light component of up to 1800 lm, there are an infinite number of settings for an individually suitable light atmosphere. The developers at Häfele and Nimbus should be delighted with the interzum award “High product quality” in 2021 and be encouraged for further innovations.
