Bigger. Improved. Ready for the Future.

  • Häfele breaks ground on massive NC warehouse expansion project
  • The updated warehouse facility will increase storage capacity by 60%
  • A rooftop solar array will generate 75% of the facility’s power needs

Archdale, North Carolina, USA, April 4, 2022 – There’s a rather large field between the street and the outer wall of the current Häfele America Co. Archdale, North Carolina warehouse. Starting today, that flat expanse will be bustling with activity. From that field, an additional 94,200 sq. ft. of High-Rise Distribution Center space will soon emerge. The expanded facility – 221,200 sq. ft. in total upon completion – will increase the facility’s overall storage capacity by 60%.

“The expansion of our North Carolina warehouse is an investment in the future success of Häfele, but also that of our customers,” said Paul K. Smith, President of Häfele America Co. “Through this project we’ll be able to serve all of our customers in a multitude of better, more efficient ways – as well as reducing the company’s carbon footprint by adding solar power to our campus.”

The expanded facility will include a 501 kW solar system consisting of over 1,100 panels. That investment alone is expected to provide approximately 75% of the total power use for the facility.

“The equipment and processes employed within our Archdale facility are about to receive a monumental upgrade,” said Jed Kilpatrick, Director of Operations for Häfele America Co. “In addition to increased storage capacity, we’ll be adding the latest automated conveyor lines and product pick systems which will improve responsiveness, efficiency and order accuracy.

A number of talented, Piedmont Triad-area and North Carolina based partners are contributing to this project including architectural plans developed by Winston-Salem’s West & Stem Architects, PLLC, site construction by Landmark Builders, also of Winston-Salem, NC and solar power implementation by Yes Solar Solutions of Cary, NC.

The total investment in facility upgrades and expansion is $13 million. Construction on the project will commence immediately with an anticipated project completion date of fall 2022.
