Product Manager – Architectural - Builders Hardware

SUMMARY
This position is created to implement and support an expansion in product offerings by Häfele America Co.(HAC).  As such, the roles and duties will change and evolve as the program matures.  The expanded product offering is “Builder’s Hardware”. HAC is primarily a marketing and distribution company.

Product Manager – Architectural - Builders Hardware, selects, sources, manages, provides “expert” product information and training, and supports sales and the market strategy for the builders hardware product segment of the architectural hardware range of Hafele America Co. (HAC).
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
> Works to fulfill product management requirements of the Strategic Business Program - Architectural
> Adheres to the Product Development procedures
> Administers new and existing products with regard to the ERP system and product life cycle Makes amendments, adds or deletes products
> Prepares Installation & Instruction Manuals, Training
> Works with Sales Department
> Develops and implements sales strategy and price structure
> Maintains and issues product information on new products and changes in existing products.
> Works with Purchasing/Traffic
> Makes decision on inventory of new articles, deletion of obsolete or slow moving articles and implements strategy. 
> Develops effective delivery strategies.


Works with Marketing

Coordinates with Show Management development of layouts and exhibit displays.
Develops artwork for product lines in cooperation with Graphic and Resource Department.
Organizes and attends trade shows, as required.
Maintains product information for catalog pages, graphic resources, drawings, show and literature services, web information and tools, promotional and advertising programs
 

Works Quality Assurance Department

Reviews returned items and sets strategy with Quality/Sales Department to improve return rate.
Resolves quality issues with suppliers and customers

Contributes to the HAC Architectural Hardware Knowledge Base

Employee must be willing to travel.  HAC territory includes the US, Canada, and the Caribbean.  Product vendors are located in these territories, Europe and the Far East.  Sourcing, training and sales responsibilities will require travel when appropriate to accomplish program success.  This is a prerequisite and normal duty.

Domestic and International travel is required for tradeshows, manufacturer visits and sales support – up to 33% of the time

Hours - Because of time zone differences and need for immediate service, access by phone and job activities may and will sometimes extend beyond traditional working hours and days.

Quality Engineer
Archdale, NC

 

SUMMARY
Works with Quality and Continuous Improvement Manager and/or Quality Assistant Manager to improve quality in all aspects of business operations as it directly supports the Company’s business goals and objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:

Under the direction of the Quality Programs Manager and/or Quality Assistant Manager this position:

  • Utilizes Lean tools including: VSM, Kaizen, Kanban, 5s, Gemba, etc to improve and enhance all business operations.
  • Utilizes Six Sigma and Quality Engineers tools including: Statistical Process Control, Control Charts, Process Capability Studies, Reliability Modeling, etc. to test, control, and report on incoming and outgoing product.
  • Leads Continuous Improvement projects under the direction of the Continuous Improvement manager.
  • Supports the enhancement and implementation of related quality/business system (ISO 9001); internal auditing, document control, corrective action, customer complaint processing, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Ensures integrity of Quality System processes (e.g. CA/PA, internal audits, etc.) in order to maintain facility certifications.
  • Assists with timely disposition of non-conforming product.
  • Assists with development of Quality System documents (e.g. Standard Operating Procedures, Work instructions, forms) and maintains document control system.
  • Serves as an internal auditor and participates in the internal quality audits as scheduled and assigned. Applies strong critical thinking skills to assess quality/business system compliance and identify quality risks. Assists with outside quality audits as assigned. Reports added-value and impartial audit results and recommends improvements. Follows-up on audit finding closure and verifies effectiveness. Maintains Internal Audit Records.
  • Performs root cause analysis and other problem solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data. Reviews complaints and returned products to identify trends and recommends corrective actions
  • Maintains Corrective Action system. Establishes and assigns ownership for audit findings and issues corrective actions. Monitors and assists with closure of CA for area of assigned responsibility. Records the results of actions taken and verifies the effectiveness.
  • Participates in quality improvement projects, and maintains all required quality records.
  • Contributes to Supply Chain Operations team improvement efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or Quality field or Associates degree with 4 years of quality systems related experience, or at least 5 years’ work experience within a manufacturing or service environment operating a QMS compliant to ISO 9001 standard;
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt or higher preferred;
  • ISO 9001 Internal Auditor training and certification. Certificate of competency of Auditing (Auditor Certification) preferred;
  • Experience of developing and maintaining of Integrated Management Systems is considered as an advantage;
  • Good understanding on Process Approach and QMS document management;
  • Experience and knowledge on using various quality tools.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret graphs and charts, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations and standards.

Territory Sales Representative - Michigan
 

SUMMARY
The purpose of the TSR is to travel within the defined territory promoting Hafele hardware (cabinet and architectural) to manufacturers, designers, engineers and architects. The focus is on sales and support to existing customers and specifiers ,and development of customers and specifiers determined to have good potential.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Develop and maintain a detailed sales and support plan for the territory.
• Travel daily within the territory to visit customers, potential customers and specifiers.
• Maintain consistent contact with customers to maintain a high degree of customer satisfaction.
• Develop a daily agenda of customer visits to demonstrate current and speculative products and assist in customer hardware decisions including new product development. Determine the customer’s needs.
• Provide accurate reports on daily activities to Sales Management at regular intervals.
• Prepare price quotations and write orders subject to approval by Hafele Management.
• Maintain detailed files on previous, current and future customer product presentations and associated meetings
• Travel to trade shows within and outside of the territory. This may include nights and weekends.
• Participate in required training (product, computer, sales etc) within and outside of the territory.
• Keep company informed on competitive products, promotional matter, sales techniques, pricing, warranty and marketing policies.
• Complete product and market research reports as directed by sales and Marketing Management.
• Communicate as needed with Customer Service, Sales Management, Marketing Management and other internal personnel via phone, fax and e-mail regarding customer activities on a regular basis.
• Maintain a home office to conduct business exclusively for Hafele America Company.
